As a boy, having a role model was critical to my development. My father was that person. He was my mentor and the one I looked up to. He guided me up to his last days. Today I seek to continue his legacy. My father was passionate about men and the struggles and issues they faced. So here I am.

Later in life I connected with a few other men. They helped me to further shape my ideas, thoughts and intentions with the goal to help other men. It is their example and the time spent with them that helped me to be the man I am today. Men need role models too.

I share this to say that men need other men to thrive. It is our collective involvement that allows us to learn, explore, try & fail and grow. It is in this effort that we are able to breakdown the negative influences and raise up boys to men and men to be yet better men.

International Men’s Day is observed on November 19 each year. It focuses on men’s health, improving gender relations, highlighting male role models, and promoting positive expressions of masculinity.

A Tribute to the Men in my Life
I am thankful for the men in my life. I was tempted to list them all here but that list would not end. My way to recognizing you is by way of me giving back to other men.

Better Health
This years theme of Better Health for Men and Boys is crucial. As a Mental Health Advocate, I recognize the impact of the pandemic on each of us. One of the challenges men experience is sharing their feelings. If you are willing to listen without explaining, judging or anything anything, you are starting to open the door to breaking down that barrier.

Happy International Men’s Day
