At Least See the Pain

I feel the pain of many tears
I hear the voices of those gone by
as some fight to protect the unborn
everyone turns off their ears to the cries.

I feel the pain of a burden that weighs
upon the shoulders of families
communities and ultimately a nation
yet the ears turn to silence.

There will be a day
when those voices will speak
and the moment when
the sins reveal
but for now I stand and believe
that we will find some form of humanity.

Motivation for this Poem
There are so many voices crying, unborn, born and dead. Yet we all seem to not listen to those voices. Rather we are obsessed with our own. Rather than listening to those voices, we create our own stories to define those voices. Is that what humanity is about?
