Stepping through the door
leaving the techno sounds behind
and like stepping into a new tour
the quiet world.

Lifting the case from my ear
originally tuned to the sounds inside
and like stepping into a studio
the quiet world.

Lost to the sounds inside
stepping to life outside
and like stepping to the tunnel of time
the quiet world.

Here I am in this open space
resting in your solemn embrace
sensing the wind, the birds, the trees
the quiet world SPEAKS.

About this Poem
Sound is often something we take for granted. Imagine a world where there was no sound at all. How would you go about sensing your way through? We fill our rooms with the sounds of the radio, television, our cell phones and our voices. Then there are some, all they hear is the sound of closing doors or nothing at all. Stepping out of that space and moving outside allowed the author a sense of interconnection with nature and the natural sounds that often goes quiet in the busyness of life, in the unstable state of being. Where we all become incarcerated by our own reluctance to release ourselves. The Quiet World is part of the Speak Life Series. A Production of Released Expressions.

Sometimes simple things that we take for granted like sound take on a new meaning. Very profound! Thanks
