Outside.. Inside.

Outside the window

the fall glared inside

as the gathering of bodies

exercised on the pages

their thoughts to rhymes,

words, beats, tempos.

The glare was unimaginable

as they too listened

and joined in the inspiration of the

solemn moment of words, trees, beats, seats,

listening ears taken off their feet.

About the Poem

It was my first day in training as a facilitator for the Toronto Writers Collective (TWC). I was captivated by the view through the window and the early signs of fall. It felt like the outside was joining us on the inside. That was back in September.

Today, at our appreciation event for all it’s facilitators, in the usually TWC style we were given a prompt to write to. The prompt was to write on the most memorable session we’ve had with the TWC. Mine was my first day of training as I visualized outside coming inside. This piece is part of the Defining Moments Series. A production of Released Expressions.

These offer him the motivation to stay grounded and be committed to serving the community. He is a dad to two (2) children. He is driven each day to live a life of gratitude and that’s just how he seeks to end each chapter.
